Our approach

EarnIt is a family tool. We collect only what we need to run the service, we never sell personal information, and a parent is always in control of their family’s data.

What we collect

  • Account information. For a parent: name and email address. For a child: a display name and a login PIN (stored only in a securely hashed form).
  • Task content and evidence. Tasks you create, and the evidence a child submits to complete them — which may include a photo, a timer duration, a short audio recording, or an approximate location check-in when a task requires it.
  • Technical data. A device push-notification token and basic diagnostic logs needed to deliver notifications and operate the service.

Screen Time data stays on the device

When you use app-restriction features, the set of apps you choose is handled by Apple’s Family Controls framework and is stored only on the device as opaque tokens. Apple’s design prevents us from reading which specific apps you selected, and that selection is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

How we use information

We use the information to provide and operate the App: creating and reviewing tasks, storing submitted evidence for a parent to review, sending notifications (for example, when a task is submitted, approved, or assigned), and maintaining and securing the service.

AI photo review (Premium)

If a parent enables AI auto-verification on a Premium plan, a photo submitted as task evidence may be sent to a third-party AI service to assess whether it appears to show the task completed. The photo is used only to return that assessment and is not used to build advertising profiles.

Children’s privacy

EarnIt is designed to be set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. A parent creates each child profile and, by doing so, consents to the collection of that child’s information as described here. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without parental involvement. A parent can review, edit, or delete a child’s profile and associated data at any time by contacting us or using in-app controls.

How information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the App — for example, cloud hosting and database providers, file storage for submitted media, Apple’s push notification service, and the AI provider described above — and only as needed to provide the service, or when required by law.

Retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us; we will delete it except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including hashing of login credentials and encrypted transport. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
